Dr. Lora Derr began private practice in 1983 after majoring in chemistry and biology at Wayne General and Technical College at the University of Akron, Ohio. She graduated Life Chiropractic College in 1981 with outstanding merits for x-ray and clinical achievements. While at Life College, she attended Breneu College specializing in physical therapeutics.
Her post graduate education includes participation in all Motion Palpation seminars, European Chiropractic Union meeting in Bergan, Norway, x-ray seminars with Dr. Russell Erhardt and Dr. Terry R. Yochum, and Chiropractic as Occupational Health Specialists with Dr. Joseph Sweere. She has attended scoliosis seminars with Dr. Fred Barge, Sports Injury courses with Dr. Leroy Perry, and numerous physical therapy courses.
Some of the more recent studies include Functional Soft Tissue taught by Dr. Warren Hammer and Myofascial Release Technique with Dr Jeff Rockwell.
She has been a member of : The American Chiropractic Association, The Council on Sports Injuries and Physical Fitness, The Southeastern Chiropractic Association, Joint Motion Study Institute, Foundation of Chiropractic Education and Research, and the Federation of International Chiropractic Sporative.
In 1991 Dr Derr was asked to join a handful of D.C.s from various chiropractic institutions throughout the world, along with neurologists and orthopedists from the National Pedagogical Institute of Manual Medicine in Moscow, to help comprise the faculty at the Russian-American Chiropractic Center at the Pirogov Institute. It was after this experience that Dr Derr returned to Logan College for certification in Sports Injuries earning a C.C.S.P. (Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician).
She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Young Careerist for two years by the Cleveland Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club of America and the Outstanding Young Business Woman by the Cleveland Jaycee's.
In her spare time she enjoys a variety of artistic projects such as painting, leather sculpting, fabric compositions, and collages. She was proud to win a local quilt show with a miniature fabric collage measuring 9"x9" depicting a landscape in Bobcaygeon, Canada.
She and her father Kenneth Derr, an architect, designed and built a home on the edge of the Tennessee river, where she resides year round. Her hobbies include boating, fishing, swimming, gardening and cooking.
